Since the club’s founding, cultural events have been a standard part of its offerings. In the early decades, the program was even largely characterized by weekly concerts, dance events—evening attire was required on Fridays—film screenings, and exhibitions of paintings or visual arts. Over time, the focus of events shifted increasingly toward lectures. Cultural offerings in the local area were increasingly utilized, and study tours to destinations around the world were introduced.
